Discovering the 'Bel Paese'
The 2024 GREEN – REVERSE edition will have the Venegoni-Marazzini Municipal Sports Center as its place of departure and arrival, located in Parabiago city – address via Carso – 20015. Parabiago, famous for being called the City of Footwear and hosting three World Cycling Champions (Ferrario – Gaiardoni – Saronni), is located 3 km from Nerviano, the historic starting point of the previous editions of 1001Miglia Italia.
The itinerary 2020 will run through the streets in the opposite direction of the “classic” route of the first 4 editions.
The cyclists will ride along the “Fausto Coppi Routes” to CASTELLANIA and will descend in the direction of the Ligurian Sea looking at breath-taking panoramas of CINQUE TERRE. Climbing up the ALPI APUANE (“Michelangelo’s Marbles”) the cyclists will be going through Tuscany finding on their route: the towers of SAN GIMIGNANO, the fortress of MONTERIGGIONI, the city of SIENA (where is ride the prestigious PALIO) and the CRETE SENESI; heading to Lazio at the apogee of BOLSENA lake.
Then they will start the way back, riding through Umbria and Tuscany again, they will meet TRASIMENO lake, CORTONA Etruscan city, the forest of VALLOMBROSA and the MUGELLO racetrack.
Riding the streets of Emilia Romagna, the cyclists will head to LUGO, city of the air pilot Baracca; then biking along the Pò river and the PIANURA PADANA they will finally come back to PARABIAGO.
Thanks to the new route, the stages with altitude difficulties are placed in the first 1000KM giving a return to Nerviano easier and more enjoyable for the riders. The last 400KM are totally flat and accompanied by the fresh waters of the longest Italian river.
